Introduction

According to Mark Roemer Oakland, the right thermostat settings can save you hundreds of dollars every year on your energy bill. Your energy bill is mostly made of the heating and cooling costs of your home and with the right setting you can bring it down. Let’s check out the best temperature to set the thermostat in summer and winter:

The Details

1. Summer setting – During the summer season, Energy Star recommends that you should keep the thermostat at 78 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s important to note that this recommendation is only for when you’re at home during the day. To get the most comfort from your cooling system at minimal cost, the thermostat settings need to change throughout the day. For instance, when you go out, it’s best to set your thermostat at a higher temperature, around outside ambient levels. Due to this setting, cooling won’t start unless the interior temperatures reach that level. With this setting, the home won’t be super-hot when you return, and energy won’t be wasted to aggressively cool down empty rooms either.

2. Winter setting – You need to follow the same rules as in summertime while setting the thermostat in the cold season. The thermostat should be set at temperatures that reflect the external air temperature when you’re out and should be within your comfort levels when you’re at home. The recommended thermostat temperature for the winter season is around 68 degrees Fahrenheit. This can save you a decent amount of money with optimum levels of comfort. However, if you want to squeeze even more savings, consider lowering the temperature to 60 degrees. While this temperature may seem too low, research suggests that people have an easier time sleeping in a cooler atmosphere.

3. Smart programmable options – Adjusting the thermostat every time can be a bit of a chore and when you’re forgetful, it may run up the energy costs. A smart programmable thermostat can be an efficient and convenient solution to that problem. It can save you plenty of time, effort, and money. They have many digital sensors that can accurately detect the temperature, humidity, and other parameters in different parts of your home. Moreover, they can automatically adjust the temperature and humidity levels to give you the best comfort and savings ratio. They can also be connected to your Wi-Fi and controlled via voice assistant from your home. So, you can set the temperatures of your home even when you’re out on a vacation in some other part of the world. Moreover, when you return home from a hot or chilly day you can set the temperature a few minutes before you reach home and enter the ideal environment for maximum comfort.

Conclusion

Mark Roemer Oakland suggests that you use these thermostat settings to get more savings on your energy bill. With the right setting, your home gets more efficient heating and cooling which also contributes to reducing your carbon footprint.
